On February 27, Mr. Oliver Melton, Financial Counsellor of U.S. Department of the Treasury to China, together with 7 more diplomats from the Economic Section of the U.S. Embassy in Beijing and the U.S. Consulate General in Shanghai, paid a visit to the Centre for International Studies on Development and Governance at Zhejiang and Zhejiang University (CiSDG). The Centre has convened around 10 experts from Zhejiang University to have an informal talk with the group of U.S. diplomats. Participants have discussed how to convene think tanks from China and the United States to have an open and meaningful exchange about crucial economic issues and possible entry points to the selected issues. The university scholars have also answered the questions concerning the common prosperity pilot in Zhejiang and the Global Development Initiative.
A frank and serious conversation
The University experts participating at the conversation included LI Shi, Distinguished Professor of Humanities and Social Sciences, also Dean of Institute for Common Prosperity and Development, and Professor ZHAO Zhirong, Dean of School of Public Affairs as well as Professor YU Xunda, the Executive Director of CiSDG. Professor GONG Sen, the CiSDG Director chaired the talk.
